This one was fueled by wine filled nights and the need to cut a rug. It's basically a collection of some of my fav dancy tracks (and by some, I mean a few drops in the ocean that is my music collection). It's still a work in progress I guess...as most things that come out of my camp, so there's always going to be future versions.

Nice Try, But No Cigar

Decided to enter a logo design contest. Nothing to lose but time right?

Here’s what was given…

We are PLANET CARBON CONTROL, a newly launched company set up to offset carbon emmissions generated by both commercial and private clients, by the planting of trees in depleted rainforest areas.

We require a simple but striking and memorable logo to accurately represent our company and it's aims.

We would like to invite design applications for the logo and the designer of the chosen logo will receive £500. To ensure fairness to everyone, we provide only the information given above to aid in the design of the logo, we will not provide answers to any specific questions.

Here’s my crap reasoning behind my design

It's simple in design, but big on message. We have the reason for your company in the centre (our beautiful planet), with connecting branches and trunk. I think it also displays the 'we're all in this together' feel. The heart shaped tree design does two things. It brings love/care message across to the viewer and it reflects your company's main function...planting trees.

The colours are straight forward. Indicative of the green of the earth and the blue of the ocean. A simple Arial Rounded font was used as it compliments the rounded feel of the logo without really distracting.

The guy said if you don’t hear anything in two weeks, you can consider your entry ‘not chosen’. Since I consider myself ‘not chosen’, I’ve present my losing effort below. Don't think it was that sucky. I took his key words to be SIMPLE, STRIKING and MEMORABLE. Oh well. If you see this design anywhere…it was stolen from me. You have my permission to slaughter or maim the bastards responsible! Or lemme know, we'll sue and split the £

Ok, I'm leaving this one as is. Believe it or not, but the one was harder and more time consuming than the last!

Drawing the shapes and applying the textures and (trying) to get things in perpesctive.

Tho lost in the reduction, there's some cool shading on the flip flops themselves.

The digital sand may be a bit too 'sandy in colour', but whatever! I think it'll be great for some web page banner or something if cropped to suit.

It's simple and it works.

I wanna be there!

Here we have...something (I guess).

Serious Corel Draw and Photoshop abuse going on here. I never realized there were 'smart layers' in photoshop. When did that happen?! Man, did that make life much easier!!

Anyways, hope ya like it.
